Malaysia Rises to 12th Place in Global Peace Rankings, Emerging as One of Asia’s Safest Nations
Malaysia has further cemented its reputation as one of the world’s safest countries by securing the 12th position out of 163 nations in the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2026. The country has moved up one spot from its 13th-place ranking in 2025, reflecting continuous progress in maintaining peace, security, and public stability.
The latest ranking places Malaysia among Asia’s safest nations, alongside Singapore, which ranked eighth globally, and Japan, which secured the 10th position.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail described the achievement as a reflection of the Madani Government’s unwavering commitment to making security, safety, and stability national priorities.
According to him, the recognition is also the result of the dedication and hard work of security personnel, enforcement agencies, and all stakeholders who have consistently worked to safeguard the country’s peace and security.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Saifuddin expressed appreciation for the efforts of everyone involved in maintaining Malaysia’s secure environment. He emphasized that national security is not merely a ranking or achievement but a fundamental pillar that supports public well-being, strengthens investor confidence, and drives economic growth.
The Home Ministry, he said, remains committed to enhancing public safety measures, strengthening law enforcement, tightening border controls, combating crime, and preserving peace across the nation.
He also reaffirmed that efforts to ensure Malaysia remains safe, secure, and stable will continue to be intensified for the benefit of all Malaysians.
The Global Peace Index ranking is an encouraging sign of Malaysia’s growing reputation on the international stage. Beyond the numbers, it represents the collective efforts of security agencies, policymakers, communities, and citizens who contribute daily to maintaining harmony and stability.
As Malaysia continues to rise in global peace rankings, the achievement serves as both a source of national pride and a reminder that peace is a shared responsibility. A safe and stable nation creates opportunities for businesses to thrive, communities to prosper, and future generations to build a brighter tomorrow.
