Russia seeks more North Korean military support as Zelensky warns of wider Asian security risks

The war between Russia and Ukraine continues to create ripple effects far beyond Europe, with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky warning that Russia’s expanding military cooperation with North Korea could become a serious concern for countries across Asia.

According to Zelensky, Russia is seeking additional support from North Korea, including thousands of troops and advanced missile launch systems, to strengthen its military operations in Ukraine.

In a statement shared on social media, Zelensky claimed that preparations are underway in Russia’s Voronezh region, located near Ukraine’s border, to receive an estimated 30,000 additional North Korean troops.

He warned that the involvement of North Korean forces is not only a challenge for Ukraine but also a broader international security issue.

“Russia is helping North Korea gain battlefield experience, improve its weapons capabilities, and understand modern warfare,” Zelensky said, adding that the development could create risks for countries within the range of North Korean missile systems.

North Korea has increasingly strengthened its relationship with Russia since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.
