PM Modi Meets with Israeli President in UAE, Advocates for Palestine Resolution

Dubai- Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Friday, emphasising India’s support for an early and lasting resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict via communication and diplomacy.

Modi and Herzog met on the margins of the COP28 World Climate Action Summit, which is taking place in the UAE.

The Prime Minister conveyed his condolences for the loss of life in the terror acts on October 7 and hailed the freeing of captives, according to External Affairs Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi on X.

On October 7, Israel was assaulted by Hamas forces in a lethal and surprise attack that prompted an invasion of Gaza, killing thousands of Palestinians, largely civilians.

Modi and Herzog discussed the ongoing turmoil in the region.

“The Prime Minister reiterated the need for continued and safe delivery of humanitarian aid for the affected population,” Bagchi said in a statement.

Modi highlighted India’s support for a two-state solution as well as an early and lasting resolution of the Israel-Palestine conflict through conversation and diplomacy.

“…at the COP28 conference, I met dozens of world leaders.” “I spoke with them about how Hamas flagrantly violates ceasefire agreements, and I repeated repeatedly the demand that the release of the hostages be placed at the top of the international community’s agenda, alongside respect for the right of the State of Israel to defend itself,” Herzog said.
