Tesla Cybertruck Explodes Outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas
A shocking explosion occurred outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, when a Tesla Cybertruck erupted into flames, killing one person and injuring seven others. By early Thursday, several videos capturing the dramatic incident had gone viral across social media platforms.
One user shared security footage showing the Tesla Cybertruck spontaneously igniting in flames while parked at the hotel’s entrance. Another user posted the same footage with the caption: “Tesla Cybertruck blows up in front of Trump Tower in Las Vegas…”
Other footage from inside the hotel revealed the aftermath, with thick smoke and flames pouring from the vehicle outside.
According to a statement from a county spokesperson, the fire was first reported at 8:40 AM in the hotel’s valet area. Law enforcement officials later revealed that the Cybertruck was rented through the Turo app and appeared to be carrying a large quantity of fireworks.
The FBI has opened an investigation to determine whether the explosion was an act of terrorism. In the meantime, Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed the incident, stating: “The entire Tesla senior team is investigating this matter. We will share more information as soon as we know more. We’ve never encountered anything like this.”
Musk clarified that the explosion was not related to the Cybertruck’s design. “We have confirmed that the blast was caused by a large amount of fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck. The vehicle itself was not at fault,” Musk wrote on X. “All vehicle telemetry was normal at the time of the explosion.” Telemetry refers to the real-time data collection from the vehicle, which showed no signs of malfunction.
The tragic incident claimed the life of one individual inside the 2024 Cybertruck, while seven others sustained minor injuries. Sheriff Kevin McMahill from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that both the Cybertruck and the vehicle involved in a similar attack in New Orleans had been rented through Turo.
This explosion comes just hours after a deadly incident in New Orleans, where a truck was driven into a crowd of New Year’s Day revelers, killing 15 people.
