JKBOSE Bans Mobile Phones for Exam Supervisory Staff
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has introduced stricter measures to strengthen examination discipline by prohibiting supervisory staff from carrying mobile phones during examination hours.
According to a circular issued by the Board, all centre superintendents have been instructed to ensure that examination supervisory staff deposit their mobile phones with them before the examinations begin. The measure aims to promote compliance with examination rules and maintain a disciplined environment at examination centres.
The circular places direct responsibility on centre superintendents to ensure that these instructions are followed properly. They are expected to oversee implementation and ensure that supervisory personnel comply with the new restriction throughout the examination process.
However, the Board has made an exception for centre superintendents, allowing them to retain their mobile phones. This exemption is intended to support effective communication with JKBOSE divisional, sub-divisional and branch offices, as well as their respective departmental authorities whenever necessary.
The Board has also issued instructions concerning candidates leaving examination centres with question papers. Under the directive, no candidate will be permitted to leave the examination centre with the question paper until at least half of the prescribed examination duration has elapsed.
These instructions have been circulated to the Directors of School Education in Jammu and Kashmir, examination officials and all Chief Education Officers for necessary action and compliance.
A stronger focus on examination discipline
Examinations are an important stage in every student’s academic journey, and maintaining fairness requires clear rules and consistent supervision. By restricting mobile phone use among supervisory staff and reinforcing guidelines for candidates, JKBOSE is seeking to strengthen accountability at examination centres. The effectiveness of these measures will ultimately depend on how consistently they are implemented, helping students sit their examinations in an environment where rules are respected and academic integrity remains a priority.
