Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat’s Urgent Call to Action for Unfinished Bridge Crisis in Satpokhran
Satpokhran, August 4, 2024 – In a shocking and distressing visit to Satpokhran at 6:30 PM today, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, a prominent business icon and social activist, witnessed firsthand the severe repercussions of an unfinished bridge project that has languished for eight years. The bridge, intended to connect the areas of Nagander, Satpokhran, Zaintrage, Bathen, Ismail Colony Satpokhran, Gujjar Basti Badwalo, and Gujjar Basti Bajnadi to Khrew, Tehsil Pampore in District Pulwama, remains incomplete, causing significant hardship for the local population.
The incident that brought this issue to light involved a pregnant woman from Zaintrage who was forced to walk more than a kilometer at 11:20 AM due to the bridge’s unfinished state. “We live in the 21st century and still face such challenges. It’s unfortunate and shameful for the concerned departments and contractors who have neglected this project for the last eight years,” Dr. Bhat stated, expressing his dismay at the situation.
In response to the dire conditions, Dr. Bhat has urgently called upon the Chief Engineer to address and resolve the matter as quickly as possible to alleviate the suffering of the adjacent communities. “The need for this bridge is not just a matter of convenience but of basic human dignity and safety. It is imperative that action is taken immediately,” he urged.
During his visit, dozens of local residents gathered in Satpokhran to voice their grievances to Dr. Bhat. Among those present were Sarpanch Mukhtar Ahmad of Satpokhran and Sarpanch Farooq Ahmad Wani of Wuyan, who echoed the community’s frustrations and desperation. The locals currently rely on a temporary road provided by the generosity of a crusher owner, which is far from adequate for the volume and type of traffic that needs to pass through.
Dr. Bhat’s commitment to resolving this issue was clear as he promised the gathered residents that he would take their concerns directly to the relevant authorities. “This bridge is a lifeline for these communities. Its completion is a top priority, and I will ensure that this matter receives the urgent attention it deserves,” Dr. Bhat assured.
In his call to action, Dr. Bhat emphasized the critical nature of the situation while speaking to multiple media channels over the phone. He highlighted the necessity of immediate government intervention to prevent further hardships and ensure the well-being of the affected communities. The residents of Satpokhran and the surrounding areas are hopeful that this renewed focus on their plight will finally bring about the completion of the bridge and a restoration of normalcy to their lives.
As the story unfolds, the local population remains vigilant and hopeful that their long-awaited bridge will soon become a reality, thanks to the unwavering efforts and advocacy of Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat.
