PM Modi receives Indonesia’s highest civilian honour Bintang Adipurna in a landmark moment for India Indonesia ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honoured with Indonesia’s highest civilian award, the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia, during an official ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday. The prestigious recognition was presented by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, marking another significant milestone in the growing relationship between India and Indonesia.
The Bintang Adipurna is Indonesia’s highest national honour and is reserved for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the unity, prosperity, and continued progress of the Republic of Indonesia. The award reflects Indonesia’s appreciation for leaders who have played an important role in strengthening international friendship and cooperation.
Accepting the honour, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the award to the people of India, saying that it belongs to the millions of Indians and also reflects the warmth and deep friendship shared between the people of India and Indonesia.
In a statement shared by the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto, the Government of Indonesia, and the Indonesian people for the prestigious recognition. He described the award as a symbol of the long-standing historical and cultural bond between the two nations.
India and Indonesia have shared close ties for centuries through trade, culture, maritime connections, and people-to-people exchanges. In recent years, the partnership has expanded further across defence, digital innovation, infrastructure, healthcare, education, renewable energy, and economic cooperation.
The conferment of the Bintang Adipurna is more than a personal recognition for Prime Minister Modi. It represents the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between two major Indo-Pacific democracies that share common values and a vision for regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
As India and Indonesia continue working together on strategic and economic initiatives, this honour reinforces the mutual trust, respect, and commitment that define their partnership. It also highlights the growing importance of international collaboration in addressing global opportunities and challenges.
The recognition serves as a reminder that diplomacy is built not only through agreements and policies but also through enduring friendships, shared aspirations, and respect between nations. With this honour, India and Indonesia take another meaningful step toward a stronger and more prosperous future together.
