Union Budget 2025-26: A Bold, Inclusive, and Growth-Driven Blueprint for India’s Future, Says EEPC India
Feb 2: The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) India has lauded the Union Budget 2025-26 as a bold, inclusive, and growth-oriented roadmap that strengthens infrastructure, boosts exports, and empowers the MSME sector.
“The Budget maintains its strong emphasis on infrastructure development, with a record capital expenditure allocation of ₹11.21 lakh crore for 2025-26. This significant public investment will further catalyze private-sector participation and drive economic expansion,” said EEPC India Chairman Pankaj Chadha in a statement.
For India’s engineering exports, key initiatives such as the Export Promotion Mission and BharatTradeNet are set to streamline compliance and enhance logistics efficiency, providing a much-needed boost to exporters. Additionally, support for MSMEs, expansion of the credit guarantee scheme, and customs duty reforms—particularly in sectors like EV production—will lower input costs and strengthen global competitiveness.
However, Chadha pointed out some concerns remain unaddressed, notably the lack of updates on the Interest Equalisation Scheme, which continues to impact export credit affordability. He also highlighted the need for direct financial support for export promotion activities and solutions to high logistics costs and non-tariff barriers in key international markets.
Despite these challenges, the engineering sector is poised to benefit from the government’s visionary policies aimed at making India a global manufacturing powerhouse. The new Manufacturing Mission under ‘Make in India’ will support small, medium, and large industries, focusing on sectors such as solar PV cells, electrolysers, and grid-scale batteries—critical for India’s clean energy ambitions.
In a major boost to the MSME sector, the government has decided to increase investment and turnover limits by 2.5 times and 2 times, respectively. This reform is expected to enable MSMEs to scale up, innovate, and create new job opportunities, particularly for the youth.
With nearly 60% of EEPC India’s members belonging to the MSME sector, the Council welcomes the 2025-26 Budget, viewing it as a step toward strengthening India’s engineering exports and positioning the country as a key player in global trade.
