UK Mobilizes Rapid Response Teams to Support 300,000 British Nationals in Gulf Region
Britain is moving quickly to look after its people living and traveling in the Gulf, where around 300,000 British nationals are currently based.
Today, British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed that the government is putting systems in place to help its citizens — including working closely with airlines and travel companies and preparing possible government‑led evacuations if the situation worsens.
“We are exploring all possible options. This includes partnering with the travel industry, and if needed, organising official evacuation support,” Cooper told Sky News.
In a bid to act fast, the UK is sending out rapid response teams to the region. These specialists will coordinate with travel providers and local partners to offer assistance, especially if airspace remains closed or commercial routes are disrupted.
Cooper also stressed that Britain continues to push for airspace to be reopened to give people more freedom and safety in planning their departures.
As global events unfold, the UK government wants to make sure its citizens have options and support — whether that means helping them book flights home or offering official evacuation help if conditions deteriorate further.
