Trump Confirms Ceasefire Between Iran and Israel Is Now in Effect
In a dramatic turn early Tuesday morning (June 24), former U.S. President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to declare that a ceasefire between Iran and Israel had officially begun.
“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” Trump urged, using his familiar all-caps style, sending a clear message to both nations to stand down and avoid further conflict.
Just a day earlier, Trump announced that Iran and Israel had come to terms on what he described as a “complete and total” ceasefire. His statement followed a weekend of dangerously rising tensions across the Middle East.
The fragile peace emerged after Iran launched missiles at the U.S. military’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday—a bold response to American airstrikes that had targeted three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities just a day earlier.
Despite the intensity of the Iranian attack, U.S. Central Command confirmed that American and Qatari forces were able to intercept and defend against the assault successfully. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
The recent strikes on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites on Sunday were a significant escalation, part of a broader Israeli-led military campaign against Iranian infrastructure, which began on June 13 with U.S. backing.
For now, all eyes are on the region, watching closely to see if both nations will honor the ceasefire. The world is hoping this uneasy calm holds—and that diplomacy, not violence, will guide the path forward.
