No Malaysians Harmed in Kashmir Tragedy, Says Wisma Putra
KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 — In the wake of a devastating attack in the scenic town of Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Malaysian government has confirmed that all Malaysians in the area are safe and accounted for.
The Foreign Ministry, in a heartfelt statement on Wednesday, assured the public that no Malaysians were harmed during the incident, which occurred on Tuesday and tragically claimed at least 26 lives. The victims, many of whom were Indian nationals, were caught in a sudden act of violence that authorities have called one of the worst attacks in recent memory.
Wisma Putra, through the Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi, is actively monitoring the situation. The ministry has reached out to Malaysian travel agency group leaders currently in Kashmir, all of whom have reported they are safe and unharmed.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time,” the statement read. “We can confirm that, based on the latest updates from local authorities, no Malaysians were involved.”
Pahalgam, known for its breathtaking natural beauty, is a favored destination for Malaysian tourists. Given its popularity, there was initial concern for Malaysian nationals who might have been in the area.
The Ministry is urging Malaysians in Kashmir to stay alert, follow instructions from local authorities, and take all necessary precautions. They’ve also advised postponing any non-essential travel to the region until the situation stabilizes.
Wisma Putra continues to coordinate closely with Indian authorities and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Malaysians abroad.
