J&K Government Restores November-December Academic Session

Srinagar, Nov 07: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has officially reinstated the November-December academic session for higher classes, beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. In an order issued by Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar Gupta, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has been directed to hold board examinations for classes 10 through 12 starting on February 15, 2025, with the aim of completing them by the end of March.

The shift back to the traditional academic calendar was solidified by a resolution from the Council of Ministers on October 30, 2024. This reversion affects the Kashmir region and the winter zones of Jammu, aligning these regions with the previous schedule for classes 1 to 9 as well. For the current academic year (2024-25), students from grades 1 through 9 will follow the November-December schedule, with exams set to take place by late 2024.

This update also brings changes to summative assessments for class 8, which will now be organized at the school level, reflecting the revised academic structure for the current session.
