Iran Launches New Wave of Strikes on US and Israeli Targets Across the Middle East
Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply after Iran reportedly launched a new wave of missile strikes targeting both Israeli and American positions across the region. According to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, the strikes marked one of the most intense attacks since the current conflict began.

The broadcaster also stated that missiles were directed toward West Jerusalem, referring to the part of the city that is under Israeli control.

The report also mentioned the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet base located in Bahrain, which plays a significant role in maintaining naval security across the Persian Gulf.
Earlier statements carried by Iranian news agency Tasnim claimed that ballistic missiles had been fired toward the naval base and other American-linked facilities in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Growing Conflict Since Late February
The current wave of escalation is tied to the broader conflict that began on February 28. The confrontation started after coordinated US and Israeli strikes were reportedly carried out on Iranian targets.

The Revolutionary Guards stated that no US Navy vessel had approached the strait recently, disputing earlier remarks by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Wright had briefly posted that the US Navy escorted an oil tanker through the waterway before the message was later deleted.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a sensitive chokepoint for global energy supplies, and any military activity near it is closely monitored by international markets.
Missile Interceptions Reported Across the Gulf
The ripple effects of the escalation were felt across the wider Gulf region. Early Wednesday morning, both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates reported intercepting missiles and drones within their airspace.
