Representation of Chopan Community in J&K Announced by All India Gujjar and Bakerwal Foundation

Jammu & Kashmir, August 11, 2024 – In a significant development aimed at community upliftment and development, the National Advisor of  All India Gujjar and Bakerwal Foundation, under the leadership of Mr. Syed Basharat Hussain (Moosa) and Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, National Media Coordinator and President of the Foundation in J&K, along with the Director of the Foundation, Mr. Choudhary Farooq Ahmad Bajad, have made a strategic decision to ensure the representation of the Chopan community across Jammu & Kashmir.

During a meeting attended by key executive board members, it was unanimously decided that the inclusion of the Chopan community is essential for the holistic development of this particular section of society. As a result, the following appointments were announced to spearhead the community’s development initiatives:

President, Chopan Community, J&K: Haji Ghulam Mohammad Wagey (Chopan), S/O Haji Abdul Karim Wagey (Chopan), R/O Trajakhal Kralapathri Khan Sahib
Vice President, Chopan Community, J&K: Molvi Ghulam Mohammad Wagey (Chopan), S/O Haji Mohammad Jammal Wagey (Chopan), R/O Trajakhal Kralapathri Khan Sahib
General Secretary, J&K Chopan Community: Ashiq  Hussan Chopan S/O Ab. Aziz Chopan, R/O Yarikhah, Khan Sahib
This initiative is a part of a broader vision to bridge the gap between the government and the Foundation, particularly in the sheep and wool industry, and to foster entrepreneurship, skill development, and start-up culture within the community.

With a focus on strengthening community bonds, education, and economic models, this move will also see collaboration with “Digital Kashmir – Be Where The World is Going” to empower the community at the grassroots level. The initiative aims to address the specific needs of the Chopan community and ensure their active participation in the socio-economic development of the region.

The Foundation’s leadership emphasized the importance of family strength and community cohesion as key factors in achieving sustainable development and uplifting the Chopan community. This strategic decision marks a new chapter in the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive growth and development across all communities in Jammu & Kashmir.
