Among the attendees were Yasmeena Yaqoob, Head of Institution (HOI) of BHS Wuyan; Tahseena Ali, Master at HS Wuyan; Gh. Mohd Wani, Teacher at BHS Wuyan; Sajad Hussain, Teacher at BHS Wuyan; and Abd. The discussion focused on several pressing issues, particularly the urgent need for improved safety measures for the students. The school’s lack of fencing, leaving it exposed on all four sides, was identified as a significant concern. The attendees unanimously agreed on the necessity of constructing a fence to ensure the safety and security of the students. Additionally, the absence of a playground was highlighted, with a suggestion that the school’s road could be relocated to create a dedicated play area for the children.

Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, who has a personal connection to the school as an alumnus, promised to escalate these concerns to higher authorities. “The safety and well-being of our children are paramount,” Dr. Bhat emphasized. He also urged the local community to take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the school premises, stressing the importance of not littering and playing an active role as responsible citizens.

Dr. Bhat expressed his gratitude to the teachers and the entire school team for their invaluable contributions to society, quoting, “A great teacher not only imparts knowledge but also ignites a lifelong passion for learning.” Manzoor Ahmad Mir, the meeting’s chairman, echoed these sentiments, quoting Perseus: “Education is a controlling grace to the young, consolation to the old, wealth to the poor, and ornament to the rich.”

In a heartfelt appeal, Dr. Bhat, who studied at the same school, encouraged local parents to enroll their children in government schools, emphasizing the importance of supporting and strengthening public education. “We have to make government schools succeed,” Dr. Bhat said, adding that even his own children attend a government school.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all participants to work together to address the challenges faced by Govt. Boys High School Wuyan Pampore and to ensure a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for the students. The community leaders and educators pledged to continue their efforts to improve the school’s infrastructure and to advocate for the necessary resources to make these improvements a reality.
